About Me
Nathanael Robertson (he/him)
- BSW, MSW, RSW

Hi! My name is Nathanael Robertson and I am a Registered Social Worker in the province of Alberta (Licence - 18129), Ontario (Licence - 851588) and British Columbia (Licence - T17158). Holding both a Bachelors and Masters degree in social work, I have spent the past 10+ years working in mental health. I bring a range of experience and perspective to my practice having worked in the counselling, non-profit, community advocacy, hospital and education spheres in both Canada and the United States.

Representation and connection mean a lot to me when it comes to mental health. Growing up in Toronto, mental health was not really talked about in my community. As an adult, I now have a special heart for working with members of the BIPOC community, as I believe everybody should have advocates and thought partners who share a lived experience. Finding the right therapist can be a tricky and vulnerable experience. My work is rooted in values of authenticity and humility, as I find it an honour to walk alongside folks as they explore their inner self, understand important relationships and connections in their life, and create sustainable change around tangible skills, deeper understanding of self, and self compassion + care.

Clinically, I believe in a holistic approach and together we will explore how your environment, upbringing, and experiences have impacted your current situation. I believe in the human ability to adapt and change with support. Those who know me describe me as calm, curious, and a great listener. I'm always learning, but my primary therapy modalities are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and strengths-based therapy.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family (especially my young son), and friends. You can often find me watching and playing pickup sports, playing board games, finding cheap flight getaways out of Edmonton, and finding new shows to binge on Netflix!
